The process for arranging insurance or indemnity for clinical trials.

Clinical Trial Insurance (KCL employed investigators)

The UK Clinical Trial Regulations require provision is made for insurance or indemnity to cover the liability of the investigator and sponsor in relation to the trial where the CI is substantively employed by King’s College London (King’s), additional indemnity should be provided through the College Insurance Policy.

All clinical trials must have insurance or indemnity in place to cover sponsor and investigator liability.

This SOP describes the process for arranging insurance or indemnity for clinical trials

For most NHS-led trials, cover is provided through the NHS Indemnity Scheme.

This SOP applies where additional indemnity is required for clinical trials sponsored or co-sponsored or managed by King’s.
