ICH-GCP R3 training statement

According to the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, ICH-GCP R3 will apply when updated UK Clinical Trials Regulation are fully implemented on 28 April 2026.

As outlined in the MHRA’s Guidance on Clinical Trials Regulations: Transitional Arrangements, organisations are not expected to work to ICH-GCP R3 or the new regulations before this date.  Researchers following the current rules remain compliant. There is no requirement for all researchers to repeat GCP training at this stage.

The format, duration, and scope of ICH-GCP R3 update training is under way but has not been finalised.

The KHP-CTO Training Team will design the updated training to be efficient, practical, and relevant for researchers. Notices of new training requirements will be advertised on the KHP-CTO website, shared through Trust Research and Development departments and/or circulated by email, similar to current refresher reminders.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the KHP-CTO Training Team.
