What is Non-Commercial Research?

Non-commercial clinical trial research is usually undertaken by not-for-profit sponsors such as universities, public health organisations, or charities.

The research’s goal is to answer a scientific question, improve patient care and outcomes, or advance public health.

The King’s Health Partners Clinical Trials Office (KHP-CTO) does not have a direct relationship with patients, but supports non-commercial CTIMPs  (Clinician Trial of an Investigational Medical Product) and ATIMPs (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product) sponsored by Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and South London and Maudsley NHS Trusts.

About our Non-Commercial Team

The King’s Health Partners Clinical Trials Office (KHP-CTO) Non-Commercial Team was set-up in 2008 to manage Sponsor responsibilities for Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs).

We support trials sponsored or co-sponsored by KHP organisations to ensure they are set up and conducted in compliance with the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

The KHP-CTO Non Commercial Team supports the setup, conduct and oversight of Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs) and non-CTIMPs sponsored or co-sponsored by our partner institutions. These are:
